Beth Reid Allen successfully home schooled three children PreK thru high School; each continuing on as successful adults in their chosen fields, two in arts and one in gaming graphics. She has extensive experience teaching children preK through young adult dance and musical theatre; and, has directed over 20 award winning youth performed plays and musicals. She, as part of the adjunct faculty at North Lake College, taught Acting, Character Development, Intro to Theatre and Script Analysis. Ms. Allen has a BFA in Theatre with a concentration in directing from Southwestern University; as well as, extensive ballet training and music giving her a love of all performing arts. She is passionate about inspiring and helping students to reach their maximum potential.

James Dalley has tutored over fifty students with basic math, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, physics, and English, as well as SAT/ACT prep. His clients have included students with learning disabilities and special needs students. He began tutoring at age 16, continued tutoring after college, and has now been tutoring for over a decade as clients have continued passing on his name to their friends. He initially tutored public school students, but he eventually began working with homeschool students also. For the home school students, James was no longer just helping students with their homework and test preparation but was serving as the student’s math teacher. Currently, about half of his clients are homeschool students.

Shazneen Damani recently graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology and a minor in Chemistry and History. She has had great feedback from previous tutoring students and has seen improvements in students’ test scores with just a few sessions. Shaz D. helps students with applying their learning style and organizing to prepare for academic success.

Elizabeth Hopkins believes that learning is a lifelong process. Passion is essential for this process. Her goal as a tutor is to get students to think critically about English, but to do that, she must first show her love and enthusiasm for it. For Ms. Hopkins, reading and writing are absolutely essential. Not only have both of those things helped her to become a better performer, they have shaped who she is, given her perspective, and taught her empathy.Ms. Hopkins has six years of experience as an educator: four years as a high school English teacher and two as an online ESL teacher.

Amber Norris is a graduate from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and a pre-medical focus. After graduation, she served as a tutor for the Americorps program at a charter school in Newark, NJ for two years. There, she learned more about the importance of consistency, empathy and utilizing a fluid, individualized approach when shaping our future leaders.

Darren Smith split his undergraduate work between George Washington University and University of North Texas studying political philosophy, completed his Master’s in Gifted and Talented Education at the University of North Texas, and went on to be a Fellow at Southern Methodist University studying Economic History. He is the father of a teen and has been teaching as a tutor and in public and private schools for fourteen years. Darren has teaching certifications in social studies, mathematics, and gifted and talented, as well as experience in teaching English in addition to the areas he is certified in. Mr. Smith has tutored in most subject areas with students in elementary, middle and high school.
