In our Rising Stars classes, young performers will learn theatrical and life skills in a safe and supportive environment. Students ages 5-7 can participate in our Mini Musicals, a perfect introduction to theatre with a shortened script and 6-week rehearsal process. Students age 8-10 have the chance to dive a little deeper in our Elementary Production Classes, which incorporate script writing, set design, choreography, and more! Plus, check out our additional specialty classes for students age 8 and above.

Mini-Musical (Ages 5-7)

A Mini-Musical is chosen for each class session. Students will engage in dance, singing and theatre as the watch their hard work and talent come to life while they explore the stage. Classroom teachers, as well as music teachers, can easily produce this musical for ages 5 to 7. Bring the story to life through drama, music, art, gross motor activities, recipes, and more.

Elementary Production (Ages 8-10)

Designed to teach basic acting skills to beginners, this class culminates in a short production. The final production integrates performance skills the children develop through weeks of practice and training in a supportive class environment. With one-on-one direction and careful teaching, children learn the essentials of stage presence, speech, and movement.

Intro to Musical Theatre Dance (Ages 8-12)

Students will learn the basic fundamentals of Musical Theatre Dance. They will explore the dance etiquette, semantics of the art of dance and what to expect in a dance class. The will learn appropriate technique and skills to carry them further in the art of dance. They will learn different combinations from musical theatre dance productions.

Wizard of Oz – The Munchkinland Singers – Grades 1-5

Come be part of The Munchkinland Singers and learn the fundamental skills of choral singing. Under the direction of Kaitlyn Wright, the choir will learn how to sing with proper technique and create a unified, healthy-sounding choir. Students will learn and practice numbers from The Wizard of Oz and other related material. The choir will be invited to perform as part of the NTPA – Fairview holiday production of The Wizard of Oz. The Munchkinland Singers will perform as munchkins, citizens of Oz, and flying monkeys—and possibly other opportunities. The choir may also be invited to perform at holiday functions representing NTPA – Fairview, including the tree lighting at the Fairview Town Hall. This is a great opportunity for our younger performers to be part of a full major production without the long rehearsal hours or expense, plus they receive vocal training from one of our best coaches!

Starlight Vocal Ensemble – Grades K-3

This performance based class introduces young performers to the basics of choral singing and group movement and dance while building self esteem and making new friendships. The students in this class will also perform as the “dinnerware ensemble” in two numbers in NTPA Plano’s production of Beauty and the Beast, which performs the weekends of November 8th and 15th.  (Member of this Ensemble will be expected to be at the Tech Week rehearsals nightly  Nov. 4-7).
