In our Rising Stars classes, young performers will learn theatrical and life skills in a safe and supportive environment. Students ages 5-7 can participate in our Mini-Musicals, a perfect introduction to theatre with a shortened script and 6-week rehearsal process. Students age 8-10 have the chance to dive a little deeper in our Elementary Production Classes, which incorporate script writing, set design, choreography, and more!

Spring 2019 Classes

Mini-Musical (Ages 5-7)

A Mini-Musical is chosen for each class session. Students will engage in dance, singing and theatre as the watch their hard work and talent come to life while they explore the stage. Classroom teachers, as well as music teachers, can easily produce this musical for ages 5 to 7. Bring the story to life through drama, music, art, gross motor activities, recipes, and more.

Elementary Production

Designed to teach basic acting skills to beginners, this class culminates in a short production. The final production integrates performance skills the children develop through weeks of practice and training in a supportive class environment. With one-on-one direction and careful teaching, children learn the essentials of stage presence, speech, and movement.

Intro to Musical Theatre Dance

Students will learn the basic fundamentals of Musical Theatre Dance. They will explore the dance etiquette, semantics of the art of dance and what to expect in a dance class. The will learn appropriate technique and skills to carry them further in the art of dance. They will learn different combinations from musical theatre dance productions.

Intro to Characterization

Creating a character is the fundamental job of the actor. The actor must embody the physical and vocal qualities that bring the character to life. In addition, the historical time period in which the character’s life is set will influence characterization choices. Seasoned actors can use characterization games to hone their skills, while beginners and students begin to develop characterization skills through simple exercises.

12 weeks – $240

Intro to Acting

Students will develop the key skills and vocabulary of acting and performance. Students will learn basic acting techniques and exercises that prepare them to audition for and perform in any production.
