Grease! – Grades 6-12

Would you like to be a part of an NTPA production?  For many of our shows, your journey to “take the stage” starts by signing up for an NTPA Audition. These auditions are intended to align a student’s desires, experience and talents with the Director’s vision for each of these roles in a show. Our auditions are hosted by at least two theatre professionals who will provide a positive and constructive learning experience in a friendly and supportive environment.

If you are thinking about signing up your first audition but aren’t sure what to expect, you might consider attending a FREE UpSTARt Workshop which is a fast-paced, high-energy, and fun-filled two-hour workshop designed to our future actors the confidence and training to “take the stage” in their first audition.

To discourage “no show” audition reservations, effective for auditions taking place after March 1, 2019, NTPA will charge a “No Show Fee” of $15.00 for 6-12th grade productions to those students that commit and then skip their audition time slots.  A reminder will be sent via email at least two weeks prior to the audition, and the student can change or cancel their audition time slot up to 24 hours prior to the audition without incurring a fee.

Synopsis

Join Rydell High’s senior class of 1959 in the full-length production of Grease! This will be one of our largest musicals of the year with two weekends of performances at The Courtyard Theatre in downtown Plano!

Duck-tailed, hot-rodding “Burger Palace Boys” and their gum-snapping, hip-shaking “Pink Ladies” in bobby sox and pedal pushers, evoke the look and sound of the 1950s in this rollicking musical. Head “greaser” Danny Zuko and new (good) girl Sandy Dumbrowski try to relive the high romance of their “Summer Nights” as the rest of the gang sings and dances its way through such songs as “Greased Lightnin’,” “It’s Raining on Prom Night,” and “Alone at the Drive-In Movie” recalling the music of Buddy Holly, Little Richard, and Elvis Presley that became the soundtrack of a generation. An eight-year run on Broadway and two subsequent revivals, along with innumerable school and community productions place Grease among the world’s most popular musicals.
